Mumbai: Speeding Scooter Kills 65-Year-Old Watchman In Mahim; Retired Officer Injured In Separate Chembur Crash

In Mumbai, a tragic incident unfolded on August 15, where a 65-year-old watchman, Manoj Hruday Giri, lost his life after being struck by a speeding scooter in Mahim. Giri, a native of Champaran, Bihar, worked at Ganesh Apartment on LJ Road. The scooter, traveling at high speed, allegedly hit him as he crossed LJ Road near Paradise Cinema. Upon arrival at Bhabha Hospital, Bandra, Giri was pronounced dead at around 8:26am. His scooter rider, Roshan Rajesh Joshi, 22, was apprehended and taken into custody.

Separately, in Chembur, a 59-year-old retired government officer, Rajendra Dhondu Sawant, sustained a wrist fracture in a scooter accident on July 13. Sawant, who had visited Kolekar Hospital to check on his brother (scheduled for leg surgery), was crossing the road near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyan after lunch when the incident occurred.

The scooter rider left the scene before Sawant could receive further medical attention. He was admitted to Medicover Hospital, Kharghar, where he underwent surgery for his injury. After a month of treatment, Sawant underwent further surgery to insert a metal plate in his wrist. After a month of treatment, Sawant approached the Chembur police, who registered a case and are currently investigating the rider's identity.
