Michy Batshuayi joins Saudi side Abha Club on a free transfer

Michy Batshuayi has transferred to Saudi side Abha Club on a free transfer. The Belgian striker departed Eintracht Frankfurt after a half-season there. Batshuayi, 32, registered four goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for the German club. He moved to Frankfurt from Turkish side Galatasaray in February 2025 for a fee up to €3.5 million, aiming to bolster the attack.

However, the forward's impact was limited, with injuries sidelining him throughout last season and Frankfurt slipping to eighth in the Bundesliga. Batshuayi made only one league start and missed games after December. Frankfurt sought to offload him as they aimed to reduce costs. Several Saudi clubs showed interest, and newly promoted Abha Club secured his signature.

The club had also signed Abdou Diallo from Leipzig and Dortmund earlier this summer. Batshuayi had previously played on loan at Borussia Dortmund in 2018, netting nine goals for them. His second Bundesliga tenure at Frankfurt was less successful.
