Mia Luxury Collection reimagines Vietnamese heritage

The Nguyet Cam - Moonlit Brocade collection, crafted by Mia Luxury Collection, draws inspiration from two key aspects of Vietnamese heritage: its long-standing craft traditions and diverse regional cuisine. The packaging reflects the nation's rich cultural history, specifically drawing from kham trai, a traditional Vietnamese art form involving mother-of-pearl inlay that originated in Chuon Ngo village, Hanoi.

This heritage is encapsulated in a deeply black cylindrical box, which boasts a handle reminiscent of a bamboo stick, symbolizing the balance between traditional and contemporary aesthetics. The exterior of the box showcases floral motifs and a gilded butterfly, enhanced through a shimmering mother-of-pearl technique. This design aims to mirror the aesthetics of kham trai, where artisans meticulously craft and arrange pieces of nacre by hand, rather than treating the packaging as a mere seasonal container.

Instead, Mia Luxury Collection has integrated it into the overall gifting experience, ensuring it becomes a cherished keepsake even beyond the Mid-Autumn festival. The mooncakes within the collection also embody this heritage. Since 2019, Mia Luxury Collection has crafted seasonal mooncakes using traditional preparation methods and selected ingredients sourced from various regions of Vietnam.

This year, the collection features four core flavors: Northwest Hearth-Smoked Wagyu, inspired by the smoky flavors prevalent in the northwestern highlands; Dong Thap Lotus & Osmanthus, merging lotus seed paste from the Mekong Delta with the delicate sweetness of osmanthus flowers; Cam Lam Mango, celebrating the fragrant sweetness of mango from Khanh Hoa; and Hue Imperial Sesame Brittle, inspired by a traditional specialty from the former imperial capital.

The latter offers a contemporary twist, blending sesame seeds with a delicate sweetness to capture Hue's culinary essence in a mooncake format. For the premium variant, Mia Luxury Collection incorporates Salted Iberico Ham & Truffle, blending the savory profile of Iberico ham with the earthy notes of truffle, providing a more modern option within a collection predominantly rooted in Vietnamese ingredients and culinary customs.
