Meet the newest class at Hillman in first full A Different World reboot trailer

Netflix has been diligently promoting the upcoming reboot of the beloved sitcom A Different World, releasing a series of teasers, images, and casting information. Finally, the first full trailer has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the lives of the new class at Hillman College.

The trailer introduces the diverse group of characters that make up this new ensemble, reflecting the rich tapestry of Black life on campus. Rashida Duvall, portrayed by Alijah Kai, brings a first-generation criminal justice major to the forefront. Shaquille Johnson, played by Cornell Young IV, is a five-star athlete who is choosing the legacy of his sport.

Amir Rodale, portrayed by Jordan Aaron Hall, is a sharp psych major who excels at solving others' problems before addressing his own. Hazel Henry, played by Kennedi Reece, is a church-raised small-town girl who is defining her own values. Lastly, Kojo Achebe, portrayed by Chibuikem Uche, is a Ghanaian-Nigerian fashion entrepreneur who is finding the courage to pursue his vision.

The original series creative force, Debbie Allen, returns as the director of the pilot episode and executive producer of the sequel series. Familiar faces from the original series, Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison, make repeat appearances, along with Cree Summer and Darryl M. Bell. Maleah Joi Moon leads the series as the role of Deborah Wayne, continuing the legacy of the original series' character. A Different World is set to premiere on Netflix on September 24.
