LSU soccer cruises in home opening win

The LSU women’s soccer team made a strong start to their season with a dominant 5-0 victory over Northwestern State. The Tigers recorded their first win of 2026, improving their record to 1-1-0 while Northwestern State fell to 0-2-0. LSU maintained control from the beginning, despite the Demons outshooting them 10-1 in the first half.

Saki Tsuchiya saved most of LSU's attempts before the floodgates opened in the second half, as Tsuchiya only managed one save on six LSU shots on target. Ava Galligan opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by a penalty scored by Allie Fryer in the 54th. Linka Ono added her hat trick goal with a header in the 55th minute, and Ryann Denecour scored her second goal of the night after a corner deflect by her.

Mia Conard completed the rout with a goal in the 85th minute. LSU now holds a 6-0-1 record against Northwestern State, marking the most they've scored against them since the 2009 NCAA tournament opener. The Tigers will host UCF in the next two games, starting with a match on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
