Live: Australia's biggest company BHP to report earnings

Australia's largest company, BHP, is set to release its earnings report today as we delve into the financials of some of the country's most valuable listed firms. In other market news, US markets experienced a decline due to concerns over a potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East following US President Donald Trump's threat to bomb Oman.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which tracks 30 large companies such as Boeing and Visa, fell 0.5% to 53,459 points. The S&P 500, a broader index covering 500 of the largest US companies, dropped 0.5% to 7,745 points. Meanwhile, the tech-driven Nasdaq Composite Index experienced a slight decline of 0.3% to 26,644 points. At present, the ASX 200 futures index is expected to experience a fall of 0.4%, or 36 points, bringing the index down to 8,976 points.
