Lee's approval rating edges down to new low: poll

President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has dropped to a new low of 43 percent, according to a recent public opinion poll. This marks the fifth consecutive weekly decline in his approval rating. The poll, conducted by Realmeter, surveyed 2,511 voters from August 10 to 14 and found a 0.3 percentage point drop in Lee's approval rating compared to the previous week.

A significant 54.1 percent of respondents gave a negative assessment of Lee's job performance, up 1.1 percentage points from the prior week. This negative perception remains higher than Lee's approval rating. The most notable decline was observed among voters aged 60 and above, with their approval rating dropping by 6.1 percentage points to 43.1 percent.

Conversely, Lee's approval rating among voters aged 20 increased by 3.1 percentage points to 31 percent. The poll also revealed that Lee's approval rating among progressive voters fell by 4.6 percentage points to 59.1 percent, while it rose by 4.8 percentage points to 22.4 percent among conservative voters.

Realmeter attributes the latest decline in Lee's approval rating to voter dissatisfaction with recent changes to real estate tax codes and other housing policy controversies. The poll's confidence level stands at 95 percent, with a margin of error ranging from plus or minus 2 percentage points.
