Kushner to meet Netanyahu after talks with Hamas on Gaza plan
Jerusalem - United States President Donald Trump's envoy Jared Kushner met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday after engaging in discussions with Hamas leaders. The meeting occurred two weeks after Hamas endorsed the latest phase of Trump's Gaza plan, a proposal that Netanyahu has thus far declined to support, insisting that any agreement must ensure the militant group is fully disarmed.
Kushner met with Hamas' new leader Khalil al-Hayya in El-Alamein, Egypt, on Sunday, and demanded verification of Hamas' disarming and renunciation of any future role in governing Gaza. Netanyahu is expected to meet privately with Kushner and Nickolay Mladenov, the high representative for Gaza in Trump's Board of Peace, as they work towards implementing the plan.
