Kenapa sekat pengarah Bersih balik Sabah, soal Adun PKR

Bersih Executive Director Asraf Sharafi Azhar, who is married to a woman from Sabah, claims he has been barred from returning to the state to meet his family since two months ago. In a statement, Semambu constituency PKR deputy Chan Chun Kuang urged the Sabah government to provide an explanation for the ban on Asraf returning to the state and to allow him to return immediately to be with his family.

It is unjust for someone to be prevented from returning home to be with their family without a reasonable explanation and clear justification, Chan stated. Malaysiakini had quoted Asraf, a married man with a woman from Sabah, who said he was barred from entering Sabah for nearly two months. He also claimed that his attempts to obtain an explanation from Sabah's Chief Minister's office and state immigration authorities were unsuccessful.

Chan claims the ban was imposed a few hours after Asraf joined several activists in Parliament to hand over a memorandum urging the establishment of the Royal Malaysian Inquiry Commission (RCI) in connection with allegations of corporate mafia linked to Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Agency (SPRM). According to Chan, voicing an opinion or attending a peaceful gathering is not a mistake, especially if the opinion is not favored by certain parties.

He emphasized that the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech are enshrined in the Constitution.
