Karnataka woman raped for 6 months, left pregnant, doctor, nurse, 5 others held

In Gadag district, Karnataka, a mentally challenged woman, aged 26, was allegedly subjected to a six-month-long gang rape. The incident only came to light after she became pregnant. Five individuals - Sikandar Gulabsab Bepari, Pradeep Sagar Navalekar, Shabbeer Ahmed, Bharat Mahadevappa Koravar, and Sandeep Sagar Navalekar - along with a doctor and a nurse have been arrested in connection with the heinous crime.

The accused are accused of luring the victim with chocolates before proceeding to sexually assault her multiple times. Following the discovery of her pregnancy, the victim's mother approached the police. The accused even tried to facilitate an illegal abortion by administering abortion pills, an act for which Dr Nagaraj Kamatar and nurse Rekha Shirahatti have been booked.

The police have also charged Gadag Anjuman president Anwar Bagewadi, his secretary Altaf Koppal, and Social Democratic Party of India leader Bilal Gokavi for allegedly aiding in the abortion. Furthermore, a medical shop owner is evading arrest for supplying the abortion pills without a valid prescription.
