Juventus Adding Vicario After Calling Off Martinez Deal

Juventus has resumed their pursuit of Emiliano Martinez following Aston Villa's agreement with Parma for Zion Suzuki, according to reports by Fabrizio Romano. After the Villa deal fell through, Juventus turned their attention to signing Guglielmo Vicario. The Italian club had initially shown interest in the Japanese midfielder earlier in the summer, only to withdraw their offer once PSG lost interest due to late commission issues.

Despite securing a new goalkeeper, Aston Villa refused to reduce their demands for Martinez, reportedly around €15M. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Argentine is currently dealing with a nagging finger injury that may require surgery at a later date. The Bianconeri had offered a maximum of €6-7M plus add-ons for the experienced player.

Realizing they couldn't secure Martinez at that price, Juventus has now opened talks with Tottenham about Vicario. The Spanish club had no intention of buying the Italian international, who is now being loaned to Juventus with an option to buy for €10M. Vicario's return to Serie A comes after impressing at Empoli, which led to a move to London.
