Junior Clerk Fired and Fined Rs. 1 Million for Harassing Female Officer in Islamabad

A government employee in Islamabad has been terminated and penalized Rs. 1 million for harassing a female colleague at their workplace, according to Fozia Waqar, the Federal Ombudsperson responsible for addressing workplace harassment against women. The decision followed a complaint lodged against the clerk. The allegation stated that the clerk subjected the female officer to various forms of harassment within their shared work environment.

The ombudsperson's ruling led to the clerk's immediate dismissal and the imposition of the hefty fine. Additionally, another individual was accused of aiding in the alleged harassment, but due to insufficient evidence during the proceedings, the complaint against this person was later dropped. 500,000 fine for persistently harassing a female colleague through derogatory remarks and sexist comments. These remarks included mocking the woman for her childlessness and comparing her to a transgender individual. The ombudsperson deemed such behavior unacceptable in a professional setting, as it constituted deliberate attempts to humiliate the victim. Consequently, the officer was mandated to pay the Rs. 500,000 fine.
