This comes after singers at Indira Bhavan continued with the complete version of Vande Mataram, despite the Congress party's claim that only the first two stanzas would be sung. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unfurled the national flag at the event, while Gandhi appeared to communicate with the singers as the rendition continued.

BJP alleged that Gandhi had objected to the full rendition, but the Congress rejected this claim, stating that she only requested a chair for Kharge, who had been standing for a while. Kumaraswamy dismissed Congress' explanation and called for people to decide the credibility of their version of events. The controversy arises amidst a broader political dispute over Vande Mataram's status following the passage of legislation granting it equal prominence with Jana Gana Mana.
