Inter set for new round of talks for Jones after Liverpool’s white lie against Como

Inter is preparing for another round of talks concerning Curtis Jones, following Liverpool's unexpected decision to omit the midfielder from a friendly against Como. Multiple Italian sources report that the Nerazzurri are prepared to continue negotiations with Liverpool regarding Jones' potential transfer. The Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport, and Sport Mediaset all believe that Jones desires to play for Inter in the upcoming 2026-27 season.

However, Inter is unwilling to meet Liverpool's €40 million valuation, primarily due to the fact that Jones has less than a year left on his contract at Anfield.

Interestingly, Sport Mediaset suggests that the reason given by Liverpool's medical staff for Jones' absence from the friendlies was a 'white lie'. The true reason, according to the source, is that the 25-year-old is eager to join his fellow Inter players John Stones and Djed Spence during the 2026-27 campaign. According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter are willing to offer a sum of €30 million, inclusive of add-ons, employing a strategy similar to the one utilized when signing Spence from Tottenham.

Tottenham had initially sought a price close to €50 million after the World Cup, but they eventually lowered their demands in August, allowing Inter to secure the ex-Genoa player on their desired terms.
