ICU-Ghana’s Ayawine Named Africa’s Most Respected Labour Leadership CEO

Brother Morgan Ayawine, the General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU-Ghana), has been awarded the prestigious title of "Africa's Most Respected CEO in Labour and Union Leadership" at the 6th Africa’s Most Respected CEOs Conference and Awards. This recognition was presented by The Business Executive, the organisers of the awards, at ICU-Ghana’s National Secretariat in Accra, Ghana.

Ayawine was unable to attend the ceremony due to ongoing labour-management engagements, but a delegation from the awarding body presented him with the honour in his absence. The citation praised Ayawine for his visionary leadership, commitment to ethical governance, innovation, and significant contribution to organisational success and sustainable economic development across Africa.

He acknowledged that ICU-Ghana’s leadership, staff, rank and file, and all progressive partners have played a crucial role in sustaining the growth of enterprises in both public and private sectors. Ayawine emphasized the importance of collaboration between unions, business leaders, and management for the benefit of economic growth, job creation, and social development across Ghana and Africa.

He also highlighted ICU-Ghana’s role in supporting strategic institutions like the National Investment Bank and Agricultural Development Bank. The General Secretary stressed the inseparability of employers’ and workers’ interests, calling for unity between employers and workers to foster productivity, quality service delivery, and enterprise sustainability.
