Guardiola-Walker fallout revealed in new documentary

A new documentary reveals the emotional fallout between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and captain Kyle Walker. In a scene, Guardiola tells his players that he is "incredibly sad" about Walker's request to leave the club for a fresh challenge. Walker eventually joined AC Milan on loan in January 2025. In an emotional moment, Guardiola confronts the team, saying, "Kyle has to know that if you lose the ball, it's a goal."

The manager also berates Walker, saying "you cannot behave the way Walker did" and questioning how his teammates behaved with their captain. Walker angrily replies, "Every meeting, it's my name." The documentary also shows Guardiola in tears after an argument with Walker, stating, "If I'm a problem, then you have to tell me." Guardiola extended his contract with City after suffering four consecutive defeats for the first time in his career, expressing his desire to win a fight in that position and to not feel like he was leaving and running away from his team.

Despite playing well under Guardiola for six Premier League titles, Walker's final season at the Etihad was marred by poor results and a disappointing 2024-25 season, during which City ended the year trophyless.
