Global Supply Chain Institute Honors Port of Los Angeles, Gene Seroka with Leadership Excellence Award

The USC Marshall School of Business Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute recently bestowed upon the Port of Los Angeles and its Executive Director, Gene Seroka, its prestigious Global Supply Chain Leadership Excellence Award. This recognition comes in acknowledgment of their exceptional work navigating the complexities and disruptions inherent in global supply chains.

Addressing the award, Nick Vyas, Founding Executive Director and Academic Director of the USC Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute, commended Seroka and the Port of Los Angeles for their transformative leadership in strategy and execution within the global supply chain industry. The institute highlighted their efforts to bolster performance, resilience, and coordination, critical aspects in one of the world's most intricate trade gateways.

The award was given amidst a backdrop of unprecedented global supply chain challenges, including the Port's proactive measures to enhance coordination among supply chain partners. Furthermore, the Port has been instrumental in leveraging data and digital tools to augment cargo visibility, efficiency, and resilience.

Gene Seroka, in response to the award, credited the collective efforts of the port's workforce, terminal operators, railroads, and truckers. He emphasized that these partnerships are pivotal to the Port's success. Seroka was also a keynote speaker at the 14th Annual USC Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit, held in Long Beach, where he shared insights on the future of global trade, supply chain resilience, and strategic priorities influencing ports presently.

The USC Global Supply Chain Institute, renowned for its focus on predicting and managing supply chain risks, continues to foster global leaders adept in agility and sustainability. This institute has been an ally of the Port of Los Angeles, supporting the USC Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit for over a decade. Seroka even served as Chairman of the Executive Committee Board for the institute from 2024 to 2025.
