Forest’s Guard of Honour for Departing Awoniyi

Taiwo Awoniyi, who is on the verge of signing with Coventry City, was honored with a guard of honour from his Forest teammates during a preseason match against Brest on Sunday. The striker bid farewell to the fans at City Ground during halftime of the 2-0 victory over Brest, and his first-team squad celebrated his departure by tossing him in the air.

Following the game, Forest manager Oliver Glasner praised Awoniyi, describing him as one of the most amiable individuals he had encountered. Glasner commended the player for his friendly demeanor, constant smiles, and unwavering commitment to the team. The manager explained that these qualities, coupled with Awoniyi's full dedication, warranted the farewell and guard of honour bestowed upon him.

Glasner wished the 29-year-old striker well for his future endeavors at Coventry City, but emphasized that this honor was not to be reciprocated when their clubs faced each other.
