Energy Ministry preparing state coal mines for transfer to State Property Fund for further privatization

According to Deputy Energy Minister Valentyna Moskalenko, the Ministry of Energy is preparing state-owned coal mining enterprises for transfer to the State Property Fund and eventual privatization. Moskalenko revealed that the ministry has prepared proposals for the government's action plan, focusing on the preparation of all coal enterprises for transfer and privatization, and the search for suitable private investors.

During a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada's energy committee, Moskalenko addressed the issue of compensating wage arrears, unused vacation pay, and other statutory payments to employees at two mines set for liquidation. She noted that the energy ministry, along with the Ministry of Finance, has resolved these compensation matters for Mine No. 9 in Volyn region and the Nadiya mine in Lviv region.

The necessary funds are available to carry out the physical liquidation procedures, and all employees who wished to transfer to other enterprises have already done so.

However, Moskalenko pointed out that Lvivvuhillia SE, one of the targeted mines, has consistently faced debt issues throughout its operations. She emphasized that these debts remain with the state mines, and it is essential to address this challenge for the improvement of the state coal mining sector.
