Dubai Municipality impounds tankers, fines operators Dh100,000 each over illegal wastewater dumping

Dubai Municipality has intensified its efforts to combat illegal wastewater dumping by impounding tankers and fining operators Dh100,000 each, according to a recent crackdown. The municipality announced on Monday that multiple tankers were caught discharging wastewater outside authorized sites, leading to impoundments and penalties under Resolution No. (14) of 2015.

This resolution amends the schedule of violations and penalties related to public cleanliness in Dubai, prohibiting the disposal of wastewater in open spaces or unauthorized locations. Violators face fines of Dh100,000 per violation, along with the seizure of the offending vehicle. To emphasize the severity of the issue, the municipality released footage demonstrating tankers being caught and towed away by enforcement teams, as part of a broader campaign to deter such actions.

The resolution also covers related violations, including fines for wastewater leakage from buildings or septic tanks (Dh10,000), improper disposal of concrete-mixing truck wastewater (Dh50,000), and fines for used oil disposal in sewage systems (Dh3,000). The municipality remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance stance towards violators, promising ongoing enforcement drives to uphold Dubai's reputation as a clean, well-regulated global city.
