'Big, bold step': Trump on Saudi-Turkey-Pak pact

On August 7, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan announced a landmark defense agreement known as the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. President Donald Trump welcomed the pact, praising it as a "big, bold, and important first step" towards collective security in the region. The agreement stipulates that any armed attack against one nation would be considered an attack on all three partners.

The trio signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in Mecca, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif present. While specific details of each nation's commitments under the pact have not been disclosed, the joint statement emphasized that the agreement aimed to enhance collective security and promote peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond.

India is currently reviewing the implications of the Mecca agreement on its national security and regional peace. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India is assessing the agreement's impact from both the viewpoint of its national security and regional stability. India remains committed to safeguarding its interests and will take all necessary measures to ensure its security.
