Bengaluru Police Seize Over 800 Kg Gelatin Sticks At Bhoganahalli Construction Site, Probe Alleged Illegal Midnight Blasting

Bengaluru police have seized over 800 kg of gelatin sticks allegedly used for illegal blasting at a construction site in Bhoganahalli, located within the IT corridor of Bengaluru. The Bellandur police, responsible for the area, stated that the project was undertaken by Adarsha Developers, one of the leading construction firms in Bengaluru, which encountered substantial amounts of rocks during the excavation process for laying the foundation of the construction.

Residents raised concerns regarding the safety measures employed during the blasting activities, which took place after midnight, potentially posing risks to a nearby school and other local buildings. Following complaints from the public, Bellandur police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. The allegations claimed that earthwork contractor Satish Naik was approached by Arun Kumar, owner of Srinivasa Earth Movers, in December 2025, to carry out earthwork at various survey numbers in Bhoganahalli.

It is alleged that when large rocks were discovered during the work, Naik allegedly pressured Arun Kumar to use explosives to remove them. Arun Kumar reportedly refused to use explosives, leading to his removal from the project. The police investigation revealed that the owners/directors of Adarsha Developers, site-in-charge, and site engineer were involved in the alleged illegal storage and use of explosives.

The authorities are currently searching the construction site to determine the source and storage of the gelatin, as well as verifying if the necessary permissions were acquired and whether blasting operations were conducted at the site.

Furthermore, the police are investigating allegations of midnight blasting and assessing the safety measures implemented at the construction site.
