Awoniyi bids Forest farewell ahead of £17 million Coventry move

Taiwo Awoniyi, the 29-year-old Nigerian striker, has announced his departure from Nottingham Forest to join newly promoted Premier League club Coventry City. The move is expected to be finalized soon, as Awoniyi has been granted permission to complete his medicals. This transfer will make Awoniyi the second Nigerian player at Coventry, following Frank Onyeka, who helped the team win the Championship during the previous season.

Prior to his move, Awoniyi was honored with a farewell ceremony at Forest's final pre-season match against French club Stade Brest. The club treated him to a guard of honor and lifted him in the air, with fans enthusiastically joining in the celebration of his contributions during his four-year tenure at the club. Awoniyi's attacking prowess played a crucial role in helping Forest avoid relegation in his first season with the team.

In a memorable performance, he scored the 19th-minute winner in Forest's 1-0 victory over Arsenal, securing the team's survival in the Premier League.
