Arif-Roy King, Carmen-Xin Yee clear 1st round at World Championships

Malaysian men's doubles pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King and their female teammate Carmen Ting-Ong Xin Yee advanced to the second round of the World Championships after sweeping their first matches with straight games. King, currently ranked 19th in the world, dominated the Vietnamese duo of Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh, defeating them 21-9, 21-13 in just 25 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.

This victory sets up a challenging matchup against the Indonesian pair Raymond Indra-Niklaus Joaquin, who are ranked 12th globally.

For their second-round opponent, the Malaysians will face the world's second-ranked doubles team, Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto from Japan. The Ukrainians, Polina Buhrova and Kantemyr Yevheniia, were the only other pair to advance from the opening round, defeating the Malaysian duo in a close 21-17, 21-12 contest that lasted 33 minutes.
