Alexandria, Harrisburg teams capture state amateur baseball titles

The Clark Traders, underdogs in the 94th South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament, captured the Class B championship title on Sunday, Aug. 16, after losing to the Alexandria Angels. Despite being fifth seeds in the District 1 tournament, Clark's remarkable season culminated in a 12-2 defeat to the Alexandria Angels. The team's success was largely attributed to their strong performances by multiple players, with standout contributions from Zach Toben, who hit a walk-off homer and struck out seven batters in the complete-game win over the Monroe Mudcats.

Toben's performance earned him the Class B Most Valuable Player honor. The Traders' journey to the championship game was filled with thrilling victories against several district champions, including the Tabor Bluebirds, Dell Rapids Mudcats, and Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks.
