Afghan embassy hosts event marking 5th anniversary of Taliban's return to power in Kabul

On Monday, the Afghan embassy in New Delhi hosted an event to mark the fifth anniversary of the Taliban's return to power in Kabul. Afghan Charge d'affaires Noor Ahmed Noor emphasized the importance of stronger political trust, economic partnership, and continued engagement between Afghanistan and India. He stated that such cooperation would benefit both nations and contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

Noor highlighted India's historical influence on Afghanistan, noting that ancient Afghan cities welcomed Indian traders and caravans, while Indian cities benefited from Afghan scholars, poets, and Sufis. He also pointed out that both countries influenced each other politically during their struggles for independence from British colonial rule.

The charge d'affaires called for India's support in protecting and respecting Afghanistan's international rights, expressing hope for greater attention and practical efforts in this regard. Noor emphasized Afghanistan's foreign policy based on balanced engagement, mutual respect, non-interference, and shared interests, aiming for positive, constructive, pragmatic, and sustainable ties with all countries.
