Actor Hayden Panettiere dead at 36

Hayden Panettiere, the renowned actress known for her roles in television series such as Heroes and Nashville, has passed away at the age of 36. Her father, Skip Panettiere, announced the tragic news in a statement to ABC News on Sunday. The Greenville County Coroner's Office confirmed that police responded to an address in Greenville, S.C., around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, where the actress was found unresponsive in a state of cardiac arrest.

Despite advanced medical efforts, Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 p.m. An autopsy revealed no signs of foul play or trauma, but the cause and manner of death are pending further investigation. Panettiere's career began at the age of four, and she rose to fame with her role as a superpowered cheerleader in the series Heroes, which premiered in 2006.

She received three Teen Choice Awards for her performance and was a Grammy Award nominee for a spoken word album. Panettiere also earned two supporting actress nominations at the Golden Globes for her role in Nashville. She had been open about her struggle with addiction and postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter in 2014.

Her death has been mourned by her former co-stars and industry organizations, with SAG-AFTRA expressing their condolences. Panettiere's memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, was published in May.
