2027 presidency: I have no agreement with Tinubu – Gov Adeleke counters Keyamo

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed claims that he has reached any understanding with President Bola Tinubu regarding his endorsement of the President for a second term in 2027. The governor clarified that his backing for Tinubu is due to the fact that the President is a Yoruba man from the South-West, and his commitment to encourage him to continue his developmental initiatives in the region.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Adeleke responded to questions about the nature of his support for Tinubu, asserting that it is not based on any agreement or personal deal. Instead, he emphasized that his support stems from Tinubu's regional affiliation and his commitment to ensure the South-West receives adequate attention in upcoming federal projects.

The governor, who is affiliated with a different political party from Tinubu, has maintained a friendly relationship with the President, making visits to Tinubu and interacting with him. After Tinubu's re-election, Adeleke reiterated his backing for the President's re-election bid in 2027. When asked whether his endorsement was a result of a political or personal agreement, Adeleke firmly stated that no agreement was reached, reinforcing his position that his support is grounded in Tinubu's Yoruba identity and regional roots.

He expressed his full support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, highlighting his willingness to collaborate with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including his political rival, Bola Oyebamiji, and former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. Adeleke stated that as long as it is for the President, he has no objections and is prepared to assist Tinubu in any way required during the 2027 campaign.

His comments followed Keyamo's acknowledgment of Adeleke's public reaffirmation of his support for Tinubu's re-election campaign.
