Vertical-format drama 'Father's Home-Cooked Meals' to hit theaters

Korean director Lee Joon-ik's new short-form drama Father's Home-Cooked Meals is set to make its debut in theaters before its digital release, becoming the first short-form drama to receive a theatrical screening, according to Lezhin Snack. This marks Lee's inaugural foray into directing a short-form drama and boasts a lineup of well-known actors such as Jung Jin-young, Lee Jung-eun, and Byun Yo-han.

Short-form dramas are renowned for their brief runtimes and vertical-screen format, which have predominantly been enjoyed on mobile devices. The theatrical release of Father's Home-Cooked Meals is anticipated to present a distinct viewing experience for audiences. The film follows Ha-eung, a father who has devoted 40 years of his life to anticipating home-cooked meals three times daily.

When his wife Soon-ae falls ill and is unable to cook, Ha-eung finds himself taking on the role of the head cook for the first time, leading to humorous and chaotic situations at home. Based on the webtoon of the same name by Gorita, Father's Home-Cooked Meals has garnered significant attention as Lee's first venture into directing a short-form drama.
