Ukraine, in massive aerial attack, kills 6 people in Russia

On Sunday, Ukraine executed its largest aerial assault on Russia to date, claiming the lives of a minimum of six individuals. Kyiv has significantly intensified its aggression against Russia this year, employing long-range missiles and drone swarms to target military industries and energy facilities. This escalation has brought the conflict closer to the Russian populace nearly four and a half years into Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russian authorities reported that 822 Ukrainian drones were neutralized overnight, with about 600 drones targeted at the Russian capital, Moscow. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin disclosed that a third of these drones were shot down within the Moscow region. An 83-year-old man in the Moscow area perished after a Ukrainian drone struck his residence, while a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk caught fire following a Ukrainian drone attack.

A Ukrainian drone assault also led to the destruction of three towns in Russia's southwestern Rostov region, causing extensive property damage and igniting a forest fire.

In response, Russian missile strikes killed two people and injured 14 others in Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih, while a man and a woman lost their lives when their home was targeted by a Russian missile in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region. Zelenskyy highlighted that one of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's largest steel producer, experienced a partial suspension of operations due to a missile attack on one of its sites.

Moreover, Ukrainian strikes ignited fires across Kyiv, including a blaze at the city's largest book market near the Pochaina metro station. Six individuals sustained injuries in the inferno. Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed targeting a metallurgical plant in Kryvyi Rih and various military-industrial sites in Kyiv, including a Flamingo missile production facility.

Ukraine has increasingly utilized domestically produced Flamingo missiles for long-range attacks on Russia, with Zelenskyy announcing the deployment of these weapons to strike a rocket research and production center in Samara, approximately 900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
