‘Two nations, one heart’: IBPC Dubai celebrates India’s 80th Independence Day

India Day 2026, held at Sandown High School in Sandton, South Africa, showcased the vibrant colours, flavours, and traditions of India. The event, which took place a day after India celebrated 80 years of independence, brought together music, dance, food, and cultural performances to highlight the strong ties between India and South Africa. Beyond the lively atmosphere, India Day served as a platform for community members, particularly young people, to display their talents on a larger stage.

Manish Gupta, President of the India Club South Africa, emphasized that the celebration aimed to showcase the diverse traditions within India, while fostering a sense of unity among the community. Established 19 years ago by the Consulate General and the High Commission of India, the initiative sought to create connections through shared culture, food, dances, traditional attire, and languages.

Gupta stressed that building relationships based on love and affection is crucial, and the event sought to spread this spirit among the South African community. Crowds were seen gathering to celebrate the 2026 India Day.
