Two drivers detained for allegedly blocking traffic to give way to supercar convoy

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Aug 16 — Two individuals have been detained in Iskandar Puteri for allegedly obstructing traffic to allow a convoy of luxury vehicles to pass, according to police. Deputy Police Chief Supt Saifullah Jaya @ Yahaya stated that the two men were arrested by the district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division on August 15 following a public complaint.

The incident came to light after a video of the event was widely shared on social media platform Threads around 6.16 pm the same day. Investigating officers found that the supercar convoy was moving from Puteri Harbour towards Johor Bahru city centre, while the two drivers stopped vehicles in their path to create a passage for the convoy.

The case will be prosecuted under Section 110 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which governs obstruction and interference offences, and includes a maximum fine of RM1,000 for conviction. Four summonses were also issued for non-compliance with vehicle specifications. The seized vehicles will be subject to further action. Saifullah warned the public that unauthorized convoy escorts obstructing traffic or stopping other road users without authorization are endangering themselves and others on the road.
