Trump welcomes defence pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan

Washington, August 7 - US President Donald Trump expressed satisfaction on Sunday with the signing of a defense pact among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump referred to it as the "Mecca Joint Defence Agreement". He highlighted that the agreement is a significant milestone, indicating the Middle East's growing unity and the nations' ability to protect themselves in a more effective manner. Trump emphasized it as the first major step forward.

The defense agreement, signed on August 7, was initiated during the ongoing US-Iran conflict that has spilled over into the region. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry confirmed that any act of aggression against any member nation would be considered an attack on all. The pact aims to bolster collective deterrence. The agreement also underscores a shared dedication to enhancing security, stability in the region and beyond, and collaboration in resolving the Iran-US conflict.
