Telangana to develop 7,448 km rural roads under HAM in first phase

Telangana government has unveiled plans to develop 7,448 km of rural roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) in its maiden phase. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the initiative by unveiling a pylon near Gattamma Temple in Mulugu district on Sunday. Phase I of the HAM programme includes constructing 2,145 roads, spanning 7,448 km, at an estimated cost of ₹6,294.81 crore.

This comprises 934 km of new Bitumen Tar (BT) roads to connect 176 Gram Panchayats (GP) lacking road access, along with strengthening and upgrading 5,490 km of existing BT roads. Additionally, 1,024 km of single-lane BT roads with heavy traffic will be widened to intermediate lane roads, benefiting 3,036 Gram Panchayats. The programme aims to cover all 96 rural Assembly constituencies in the State and will be followed by three more phases, each covering 5,676 km and 5,348 km of Panchayat Raj roads respectively.
