Srisailam temple sees pilgrim surge on first Sravanam Sunday

The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam experienced a surge of devotees on Sunday (August 16, 2026), marking the first Sunday of the holy month of Sravanam. The temple administration took extensive measures to ensure pilgrims had a pleasant darshan of the main deities, Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba.

Temple doors opened early at 3 a.m., with darshan available from 4:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the day, and from 5:30 p.m. in the evening. To accommodate devotees, rituals such as Garbhalaya Abhishekam, Samuhika Abhishekam, and Kumkumarchana were halted on Sundays, Mondays, and Saturdays during Sravanam, as well as on Varalakshmi Vratam and Sravana Purnima, totaling 19 days.

M. Srinivasa Rao, the Srisailam temple Executive Officer, assigned special duties to Devasthanam department heads and staff to ensure no inconvenience for visitors and to provide necessary amenities. Upon inspecting the queue lines on Sunday morning, Rao conversed with several devotees to collect their feedback. Breakfast and drinking water were served to those in the queue complex, while hot milk was provided in the morning.

Anna Prasadam was distributed at the Annadanam (free food) hall starting at 10:30 a.m., and snacks/light meals were made available for devotees from 6:30 p.m. onwards.
