Sen Nwoko, Others in Attendance as Okoboh Launches 4 Books, Website in Abuja

During a ceremony in Abuja, Dr Chris Onyemaechi Okobah unveiled four new books and a website, aimed at filling the gap in academic literature and promoting reading culture in Nigeria. The four titles, Maritime Law in Nigeria, Nigerian Property Management, Nigerian Risk Management, and Arbitration in Nigeria, were authored by Okobah, a prolific author, lawyer, and arbitration scholar who has written 67 books across various genres.

These publications reflect his lifetime of work with the legal and institutional frameworks supporting Nigeria’s prosperity.

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in Delta State, attended the launch as the special guest of honor. He praised Okobah for his informative work, describing the books as a celebration of knowledge, scholarship, and endurance. Nwoko also recommended the books to various educational institutions, political entities, and libraries across Nigeria.

Okobah, while detailing the publication process, stressed that nations are built on institutions, which stand on knowledge. He lamented the declining reading culture among children and young people and urged the government to legislate against children accessing social media, which distracts them from reading. Okobah believes his writings address societal issues like injustice, oppression, and human trafficking, emphasizing the importance of legislation and parental involvement in fostering the reading habit.

Reviewers Dumebi Henry Emma-Dibia and Augusta Massey commended the books, specifically focusing on maritime sector regulation, risk management, and arbitration in Nigeria. They advocated for urgent reforms in these areas, recommending Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a means to improve the mediation process, as seen in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Rwanda, and Ghana.
