‘Scrubs’ Adds ‘SNL’ Alum John Higgins for Season 2 of Revival Series

The second season of ABC and 20th Century Television’s "Scrubs" revival series is expanding its cast with the addition of former Saturday Night Live player and writer John Higgins, according to TheWrap. Higgins will portray the hospital's new chief resident, a role that was previously held by J.D., played by series lead Zach Braff, in the original show's early seasons.

Donald Faison, a series star, confirmed Higgins' involvement during a "Scrubs" panel at Disney’s annual expo D23. He praised Higgins' and Ava Bunn's (who played intern Tosh in season 1) contributions to the cast, with Bunn being promoted to a main cast member for the upcoming sequel. Higgins gained recognition on "Saturday Night Live" through several seasons, notably participating in the digital shorts series "Please Don't Destroy," alongside Ben Marshall and Martin Herlihy.

The trio also co-wrote and executive produced the 2023 film "Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain," which was released by Universal. Higgins last appeared on "SNL" in 2023 before departing the show. Since then, he has had roles in Apple TV+'s "Stick" and is set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming Cameron Diaz feature "Bad Day."
