PKR leaders vow fairness for all races, slam racial propaganda, urge unity over ego

Malaysia, August 16 — The PKR party must continue to uphold a just political approach for all societal groups, while acknowledging the significance of Islam and the Malays within the Federal Constitution. VP Amirudin Shari stressed that the position of Islam and the Malays is a fundamental component of the Constitution that must be respected by every political entity.

Addressing the closing remarks on the second day of the PKR National Congress at Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Shari emphasized that his party remains fair to all Malays, Chinese, Indians, Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus.

The Selangor Menteri Besar further elaborated on PKR's reform efforts, spearheaded by President Anwar Ibrahim since 1998, which have successfully integrated vital issues such as democracy, fundamental rights, equitable economic distribution, and transparent government administration. Ramanan, the PKR Vice President and Minister of Human Resources, reiterated the importance of defending the nation's racial diversity and rejecting any political manipulation of racial issues.

He warned that certain parties exploit racial divisions for electoral gains, and PKR must remain steadfast in its commitment to unity and eschew such divisive tactics.

Ramanan urged everyone within the party to prioritize unity over personal ambitions, warning that internal strife could weaken the party's infrastructure at all levels. He argued that political rivals would gain advantage from internal divisions. Another PKR Vice President, Chang Lih Kang, highlighted that the party's resilience and effectiveness are not derived from racial propaganda but from the growing support of various racial groups for party representatives who have performed well.

Lih Kang pointed to the Negeri Sembilan state election result, in which the Malay community voted for DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, despite facing racial identity propaganda, as evidence of the party's widespread appeal.
