#OsunDecides2026: Adeleke thanks Tinubu, says he expects Oyebamiji’s congratulatory call

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support during the August 15 governorship election, expressing anticipation of a congratulatory call from his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji. In a video statement posted on Sunday by News Central, Adeleke emphasized that this election was not about victors or vanquished, affirming his wish for his opponents to extend congratulations.

Adeleke also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, crediting him for safeguarding democracy amidst his efforts. The Independent National Electoral Commission officially declared Adeleke as the winner with 511,067 votes, surpassing Oyebamiji's tally of 444,815 votes. Adeleke secured victory in 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji claimed 11.

His re-election marks a second term, following his initial win in 2022 from the Peoples Democratic Party, which he later transferred to the Accord Party for the 2026 election. Adeleke's confidence in his win was attributed to his unwavering faith, stating that his God never fails, echoing a sentiment often found in Christian teachings.
