Osun decides: Adeleke wins 18 LGAs, leads Oyebamiji by 67,335 votes

In Osun State's recent gubernatorial election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, reported that the Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has secured a significant lead over his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. As of the announcement of results from 25 out of 30 local government areas, Adeleke has garnered 431,760 votes, while Oyebamiji has received 364,425 votes.

The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, is trailing with 10,574 votes. Adeleke's lead is currently 67,335 votes, with the remaining five local government areas yet to be reported. The race has seen both candidates perform well in various parts of the state, with Adeleke's advantage stemming from substantial victories in several key areas such as Osogbo, Ede North, Ede South, Iwo, Ife East, and Ife North.

In Osogbo, Adeleke received 36,480 votes compared to Oyebamiji's 30,474 votes, while Adeleke also recorded one of his largest margins in Ede North, where he received 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji's 10,283 votes. Despite Oyebamiji's strong performances in several areas, including Irewole, Boripe, Ilesha East, Obokun, Irepodun, Atakunmosa West, Ifedayo, and Odo-Otin, Adeleke's larger margins in his strongholds have given him a substantial lead in the provisional tally.

With the outstanding results expected to solidify Adeleke's position, the election results confirm Adeleke's lead in 18 of the 25 local government areas, while Oyebamiji has won seven.
