NPP needs rebranding, restructuring in Ahafo Region — Newly elected chairman

Robert Sarfo-Mensah, the newly elected chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ahafo Region, has called for a rebranding and restructuring of the party to regain its appeal ahead of the 2028 general elections. This comes following the party's poor performance in the 2024 elections, where it managed to win only one out of the six parliamentary seats in the region.

Sarfo-Mensah made these remarks at Goaso after being elected as the new chairman with 65 votes out of the 157 cast. He emphasized that the party's immediate priority would be to reposition itself and make it more attractive to the people of Ahafo. According to Sarfo-Mensah, the NPP previously held four of the six parliamentary seats in the region but lost three in the 2024 elections held in Asutifi North, Asunafo North, and Tano South.

He attributed part of the party's poor performance to internal divisions that had emerged ahead of the 2024 elections and pledged to work with the new executives to ensure such divisions do not recur. Sarfo-Mensah stressed that rebuilding the party would require unity, effective organization, and a deliberate effort to reconnect with voters, particularly the youth.

Nana Antwi Eric, the retained Regional Secretary, who secured 102 votes out of the 157 cast, echoed Sarfo-Mensah's sentiments and pledged the party's commitment to working with candidates who contested and lost the regional executive elections. He also highlighted the importance of tapping into their ideas to strengthen the party.

Antwi Eric emphasized the need for the NPP to avoid another defeat in 2028 and pledged to work towards reclaiming the three parliamentary seats that the party lost in the region. The newly elected executives include Sarfo-Mensah as the chairman, Prof. Emmanuel Opoku Marfo as the 1st Vice Chairman, Collins Osei Bonsu as the 2nd Vice Chairman, Nana Antwi Eric as the Secretary, Samuel Owusu Akoto as the Deputy Secretary, Alfred Asiedu as the Communication Officer, Bawa Issifu as the Organiser, Obeng Ababio as the Youth Organiser, Emelia Konadu as the Women’s Organiser, Mutala Mohammed as the Nasara Coordinator, and Eugene Kusi Boakye as the Treasurer.
