NMDC marks 53.15 MT production; targets 60 MT in FY27 and 100 MT by 2030

NMDC Limited, a key player in India's mineral sector, marked a production milestone of 53.15 million tonnes of iron ore in the 2026 financial year, with sales reaching 50.23 million tonnes. This achievement made NMDC the first mining company in the country to surpass the 50 million tonne mark. Looking ahead, the company aims to reach 60 million tonnes of production by the end of FY2027 and 100 million tonnes by 2030, according to Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee.

During the Independence Day celebrations, Mukherjee emphasized NMDC's role in ensuring mineral security, driving industrial growth, and contributing to India's self-reliant narrative. The company reported a 26% increase in production to 15.12 million tonnes in the first quarter of FY2027, with sales of 11.73 million tonnes and a turnover of ₹6,795 crore.

NMDC is diversifying into coal, steel, and strategic minerals, with the Nagarnar Steel Plant achieving a cumulative hot metal production of 7 million tonnes and reporting two profitable quarters. Additionally, the company highlighted its social initiatives, supporting young women through Balika Shiksha Yojana and Chhoo Lo Aasmaan programs.
