NASCAR Cup Series Standings After Richmond: Logano Surges, Chase Bubble Tightens

Joey Logano not only claimed victory at Richmond Raceway, but also solidified his position among the leaders in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. The three-time champion's win in the Cook Out 400 propelled him four spots higher, from 13th to ninth in the rankings, as the regular season nears its conclusion. On the opposite side of the Chase picture, Austin Cindric climbed into 15th while Shane van Gisbergen dropped to 16th, securing the final Chase position.

With only two races remaining before the 16-driver field is finalized, the margin for error is rapidly diminishing. Denny Hamlin maintains a commanding lead in the standings, with a 115-point advantage over Ryan Blaney after securing a fourth-place finish in Richmond. Blaney moved up one spot to second, with 854 points, after starting from the pole but finishing 13th.

Ty Gibbs dropped one position to third with 842 points, while Tyler Reddick remains fourth with 831 points. Chase Briscoe holds the fifth position with 715 points, and Chase Elliott moved up one spot to sixth, tied with Christopher Bell at 695 points. Kyle Larson moved up two positions to eighth after finishing sixth, following his start from 30th.

Joey Logano, who had already shown his form with a second victory in four races, now sits in ninth place with 659 points, just one point behind Larson. Chris Buescher rounds out the top 10 with 653 points. Shane van Gisbergen holds the crucial 16th spot, with 567 points, leaving him 50 points behind Ryan Preece in 17th. Austin Cindric improved his position to 15th with 574 points, while the Chase bubble now consists of Austin Cindric, Shane van Gisbergen, and Ryan Preece.

Hamlin, Blaney, Gibbs, Reddick, Briscoe, Elliott, and Bell are all locked into the Chase following the Richmond race.
