Motorist dies after car crashes into swing bridge

A 55-year-old man died after being attacked by a dog in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The dog owner, also 55, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and for having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place, causing injury. The incident occurred on a path in Calder Grove on Saturday afternoon. Police received calls around 1:36pm reporting an altercation and the injured man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The investigation is being handled by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, and police are appealing for witnesses, particularly two individuals who stopped to assist the injured man.
