Mercy Masai joins Gachagua’s DCP party

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed Mercy Nashipai Legilisho, widely known as Mercy Masai, to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) as she readies her campaign for the Kajiado County Woman Representative position. In a statement released on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Gachagua expressed his belief that Legilisho had made the right decision by joining DCP, describing it as a political entity that listens to the people and advocates for their aspirations.

"Welcome to DCP Party Mercy Nashipai Legilisho (Mercy Masai) as you prepare for the race to become Woman Representative for Kajiado County," Gachagua stated. He noted that Legilisho had listened to the voices of Kajiado's residents and selected DCP as their party of choice. Gachagua further affirmed that DCP was dedicated to advancing the ambitions of Kenyans, hinting at the party's strategy to broaden its political reach beyond its established bases.

"The future is Green!" he exclaimed, invoking the DCP's color as a motivational call ahead of the 2027 General Election. Masai's addition to DCP occurs as political factions ramp up their strategies to field candidates for the 2027 polls, with the Kajiado Woman Representative seat anticipated to draw a fierce competition.
