Mat Sabu launches book, warns Malaysians against propaganda, urges facts over allegations

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has cautioned Malaysians against accepting allegations without proper verification, warning that doing so may fuel a tendency to defend one's own group regardless of fault and negatively view the good deeds of others, a phenomenon known as 'asabiyyah'. The Agriculture and Food Security Minister urged the public to verify facts and gain a clearer understanding before forming opinions, emphasizing that this approach should be applied to current political issues in the country.

At a book launch for his co-authored work, Mustadhafin vs Mustakbirin, Mohamad addressed concerns that the Democratic Action Party (DAP) is a communist party, and that collaborating with it equates to supporting communism. He questioned the validity of these claims, asking, "Is DAP really communist?"

The book, co-authored with Ennie Zuhasniza Jamaludin, was launched by Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar, a National Journalism Laureate and director of Star Media Group Berhad. Mohamad explained that the book details his experiences and interactions with various individuals as he sought to understand issues based on actual situations, rather than solely relying on information being circulated.

He mentioned his childhood habit of not immediately accepting information, preferring to find out for himself what was happening instead of believing propaganda.

Throughout the book, Mohamad shares his perspective on global geopolitical dynamics, incorporating his personal experiences, observations, and thoughts. The content covers topics such as colonialism, the Islamic movement, the Palestinian conflict, and shifts in global power.
