LeBron James leans into new passion with YouTube golf channel

LeBron James, the 41-year-old basketball star, has ventured into the world of golf through his new YouTube channel. On August 15, he released his first video, a vlog-style 96-minute compilation of a golf trip to Scotland in June with members of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2016 championship team. The group, including Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, J.R.

Smith, Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, Matthew Dellavedova, and Iman Shumpert, played a 3-on-3 format while sharing laughter and memories of their championship run. The 2016 Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to claim the NBA title.

James' YouTube channel aims to take fans with him as he explores golf courses worldwide, enjoying local food, wine, and plenty of laughs. He told The Hollywood Reporter that the first video was "the trip of a lifetime" with his teammates. The young star expressed his newfound enthusiasm for the game, saying, "It's been a lot of fun out on the course, learning and loving all the nuances of the game, and I'm excited about bringing everyone along with me on this journey through my channel."

The plan is to release a new video each month on Saturdays. James has previously mentioned his growing interest in golf on his podcast, "Mind The Game," with Steve Nash. He said, "The (golf) bug is real. I've heard about the bug for so many years and I was like, Well, it's not gonna get me. I don't like golf at all. Who wants to be outside all day walking around? Nah, it's real. I am into it." The first video has already amassed over one million views, and James now boasts nearly 400,000 subscribers.
