Kerala minister Shaji says he stands by his call to abandon PM SHRI scheme

Kerala Minister K M Shaji remains firm in his assertion that the PM SHRI scheme should be abandoned, despite the state government appointing a committee to examine the matter. During a Youth League event in Kannur, Shaji reaffirmed his stance, stating that his earlier call to discard the scheme into the Arabian Sea was merely political rhetoric.

He clarified that once in office, ministers should focus on their individual departments rather than making grandiose statements. Shaji emphasized that his opinion on the PM SHRI scheme remains unchanged, regardless of the current government's position. While acknowledging the importance of collective responsibility in coalition politics, he clarified that no single party can act unilaterally.

The IUML, Shaji's party, had vocally opposed the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme during the opposition period.
