The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday morning that incumbent Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, had won the governorship election held in the state on Saturday. Adeleke secured victory by winning 19 out of the 30 local government areas in Osun. Prof Joshua Ogunwole, the State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, declared the election results at approximately 7:24 am on Sunday.
Adeleke received a total of 511,067 votes, while his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, emerged victorious in 11 LGAs. Adeleke's campaign, which was on the Accord platform, also won in 16 LGAs, while Oyebamiji won in 7 LGAs. Ogunwole confirmed that Adeleke fulfilled the legal requirements and was hereby declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election.
