Jharkhand protests: Students to gherao CM residence on August 20 if demands not met

In Jharkhand, students and job aspirants have been protesting over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations for the past 23 days. The agitators, known as JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, accused the ruling JMM-Congress alliance of not taking "concrete action" on their demands. They have announced plans to gherao the chief minister's residence in Ranchi on August 20 and seek his resignation.

Protesters are also demanding the cancellation of certain Jharkhand Public Service Commission examinations and a CBI probe into the irregularities. Thousands participated in a Tiranga Yatra in Ranchi on Saturday to mark India's 80th Independence Day and press for recruitment reforms. State opposition leader Babulal Marandi urged the government to engage with the protesters, while the government claimed it is taking steps to strengthen the recruitment process.
